Health Insurance

Okay, let me start off by telling you all that (most of you know anyway) I have tummy problems.

When I was younger they diagnosed me with ulcerative colitis.
It has sinced "morphed" for lack of a better word, into Crohns disease, pretty much the same thing except I'm older now and that's just what they call it.
And I won't lie to you, when it's acting up it sucks. Intense pain, no control of bowel movements...etc etc.
I won't go into the nasty details, but I had to tell you that part of the story to move on with the next.
(Anyway, fear not faithful stuff about stuffers, everything is fine, I'm fine, it's all good.)
But the reason it's all good is due to this medicine I'm taking called Remicaid. I have to go to the docs office once every six weeks and they actually do an infusion of this medicine thru an I V.
It takes about 2 or 2.5 hours to do, which believe me if you've been thru this lovely little sickness, it's well worth it.
So, I've been doing this for over two years now and it has worked wonders. What it actually does is supress my immune system just enough so the anti-body's that fight disease in your body don't go crazy. My immune system is way over active, and that's what causes all these problems. It thinks something is attacking my stomach / colin when actually nothing is there.
Luckily for me I have really good health insurance at Sprint, I pay a co-pay of 40.00 every time and my health insurance picks up the rest. (Just an FYI these little trips to the docs office for this medicine run about $5,000 a shot.) But like I say I only have to pick up the 40.00 part of it.
Well, yesterday I get a bill from the docs office for......you got it....4560.00!!
As you can imagine I was a little less than happy. I go ahead and give the docs office a ringy dingy, to find what the frick is going on. I get this big cock and bull story about how my "great" insurance company wants all this information now about why I'm taking this medicine and if I really have Crohns disease and on and on and on. So they had to go ahead and bill me for it, until it gets straightened out. And I said, "Well, I'll just go ahead and give my insurance company a ringy dingy and we'll straighten it out right now."
Now, keep in mind that I have another treatment coming up next week, and I'm really not wanting to go in the hole 10,000 if they aren't going to cover it. But here is the kicker, they have ALREADY paid for my first two treatments this year.
So, while I'm talking to the dumb ass insurance cust. serice rep. all of this came out during the conversation.
She said, "Our investigators like to check up once in awhile to make sure everything is on the up and up."
And I went, "Oh really, because I have nothing better to do than to fake a sickness and go to a docs office and sit there for 2.5 hrs with a needle hanging out of my arm once every six weeks. Not to mention the fact this stuff isn't a narcotic or anything, or the fact it is 5,000 dollars a pop and I'm pretty sure my doc isn't just handing it out to everybody that says they have a little tummy cramp. Why don't you guys let the patient know you're "investigating" them and what is going on before you let them get a 5,000 bill and have a heart attack....then you'd really have something to pay for wouldn't you?"
Anyway, she looked up all the stuff and said it would be fine.
Now, wouldn't that have been easier just to do in the first place?
Anyway, have a good one everybody!

Steve Collet is my brother in law, he has lost his battle with cancer,
He had several operations over the last ten years and is a testament to the human spirit.
Never once in the brief period that I knew him did he ever give up the fight.
If I could have half the courage he had during his battle with cancer when I meet my
maker, I will end up being one hell of a man.
Steve was career military and loved this country like no other.
Steve,
thank you for doing what you did so the rest of us can do what we do.

MY CAMPAIGN PLATFORM

Okay,
since we have no "viable" candidate running for office at the present time, I hearby declare I shall in fact run for president of these United States.
First let me run thru the fakes that are the front runners,
Obama:
Nothing but a yes man, in so far as I can tell. And no I wouldn't not vote for him because he is black.
Clinton:
Unfortunately I don't have infinite room on my blog to list the reasons not to vote for this piece of work....just a few......bigger gov't, higher taxes, socialized medicine (she won't call it that, but that's what it is)
I'd really like to see Laura Bush run.
McCain:
The war hero thing great, thank you very much sir.....but unfortunately you're just as liberal as all the rest of them.
************************
Now,
lets examine my platform:
1. Income tax abolished, I will add a .o1 cent tax to everything that we buy, that should be enough, by far to cover everything we need to do.
2. I will institute the death penalty for child molesters....when there is indisputable DNA evidence.
3. I will also allow you to put your money in some form of retirement annuity, 401K, whatever of YOUR choosing....the money the feds take out for social security out of your check will be for this. IF you decide to leave it in social security, that will be your option.
4. I will put the national guard on the borders, if you try and cross, and you're not supposed to be crossing, you will be subject to being shot on the spot, no questions asked.
5. We will still have welfare, VERY LIMITED. Sometimes people do need help, and being the Christian based people we are, we will help them. BUT, if you can be flippin' burgers at Mickey D's...then that's what you'd best be doing.
6. Abortion, I personally am against it.
BUT, we're a democracy, we will have a national, seperate vote on this one issue, and this one issue alone.
A year to the day I am elected, is when this will take place.
You either vote to keep/make it legal, or not.
That's it.
Period.
That's it folks...pretty simple......let me know what you think....
Oh, by the way my campaign slogan will be,
"LETS PUT D C IN D.C.!"
(pretty clever, huh?)
Have a good weekend!!

House Leaders, White House Reach Deal on Economic Stimulus Package

YAY!!

Surely this will pass in the Senate as well. As this is good news and all, I have a better idea.

(of course heh heh)

How about this:

JUST LET US KEEP MORE OF OUR MONEY TO BEGIN WITH!!!

Say I make $1200.00 every two weeks.....let me keep $900.00 or $1,ooo of that instead of 750.00.

Doesn't that make more sense?

(let me know what you think in the comments section)

To end this weeks blog a little poem:
(thanks to Big John)
A drunk man in an Oldsmobile
They said
had run the light
That caused the six-car pileup
On 109 that
night.
When broken bodies lay about
"And blood was everywhere,"
"The sirens screamed out eulogies,"
For death was in the
air.
"A mother, trapped inside her car,"
Was heard above the
noise;
Her plaintive plea near split the air:
"Oh, God, please
spare my boys!"
She fought to loose her pinned hands;
"She
struggled to get free,"
But mangled metal held her fast
In grim
captivity.
Her frighte ned eyes then focused
"On where the back
seat once had been,"
But all s he saw was broken glass and
Two
children's seats crushed in.
Her twins were nowhere to be
seen;
"She did not hear them cry, "
"And then she prayed they'd
been thrown free, "
"Oh, God, don't let them die! "
Then firemen
came and cut her loose, "
"But when they searched the back,
"They found therein no little boys, "
But the seat belts were
intact.
They thought the woman had gone mad
"And was traveling
alone, "
"But when they turned to question her, "
They discovered
she was gone.
Policemen saw her running wild
And screaming above
the noise
"In beseeching supplication, "
Please help me find my
boys!
They're four years old and wear blue shirts;
"Their jeans
are blue to match.""
"One cop spoke up, ""They're in my car,
And they don't have a scratch.
They said their daddy put them
there
" And gave them each a cone, "
Then told them both to wait
for Mom
To come and take them home.
"I've searched the area high
and low, "
But I can't find their dad.
"He must have fled the
scene, "
"I guess, and that is very bad."
"The mother hugged the
twins and said, "
"While wiping at a tear, "
"He could not flee
the scene, you see, "
"For he's been dead a year."
"The cop just
looked confused and asked, "
"Now, how can that be true? "
"The
boys said, ""Mommy, Daddy came "
"And left a kiss for you."" "
He
told us not to worry
"And that you would be all right, "
And then
he put us in this car with
"The pretty, flashing light. "
"We
wanted him to stay with us, "
"Because we miss him so, "
"But
Mommy, he just hugged us tight "
And said he had to go.
He said
someday we'd understand
"And told us not to fuss, "
"And he said to
tell you, Mommy, "
"He's watching over us."
The mother knew
without a doubt
"That what they spoke was true, "
"For she
recalled their dad's last words, " " I will watch over you."
The
firemen's notes could not explain
"The twisted, mangled car,
And how the three of them escaped
Without a single
scar..
"But on the cop's report was scribed, "
"In print so very
fine, "
An angel walked the beat tonight on Highway 109.
Have a good weekend!

I'M BACK!!!

WHEW!!
Hope everybody had a great holiday!!
We headed North (Rebecca and I and her son Dillon) to Iowa for X-mas.
We went to my Dad's for his X-mas, then X-mas Eve we did my Moms X-mas and went to my grandma's and saw all the couisins and everybody.
We got to go out Saturday night the 22nd for some some adult fun, and of course it ended up being blizzard conditions. The taxi ride home was a riot, Rebecca was none to pleased about it though. heh heh.
Okay well a lot has happened (or not happened) no bowl game to look forward to this year for our beloved black and gold, the basketball team is struggiling (to be expected) and just when we thought we were back on top of the wrestling world, Okie State comes in and whoops us.
Crap!!
And how about some crazy weather, today Jan. 7th here in K C we have TORNADO WATCHES out!
It's 65 degrees right now!!
Unreal.
We had the Iowa Caucuses or as El Rushbo likes to call them, "The hawkeye cauceye"
heh heh.
Okay, just wanted to let everyone know I'm back, I'll have a full blown blog this week at some point, with all the smart ass commentary you've come to love and enjoy.

HAPPY VETERANS DAY!!

FOR OUR HEROES

HAPPY VETS DAY

*******************

Twas the night before Christmas, he lived all aloneIn a one bedroom house made of plaster & stone.I had come down the chimney with presents to giveAnd to see just who in this home did live.I looked all about a strange sight I did see,No tinsel, no presents, not even a tree.No stocking by the fire, just boots filled with sand,On the wall hung pictures of far distant lands. With medals and badges, awards of all kindA sober thought came through my mind. For this house was different, so dark and dreary,I knew I had found the home of a soldier, once I could see clearly.I heard stories about them, I had to see more So I walked down the hall and pushed open the door. And there he lay sleeping silent alone,Curled up on the floor in his one bedroom home. His face so gentle, his room in such disorder,Not how I pictured a United States soldier. Was this the hero of whom I’d just read?Curled up in his poncho, a floor for his bed?His head was clean shaven, his weathered face tan,I soon understood this was more then a man.For I realized the families that I saw that nightOwed their lives to these men who were willing to fight.Soon ‘round the world, the children would play,And grownups would celebrate on a bright Christmas day. They all enjoyed freedom each month of the day,Because of soldiers like this one lying here.I couldn’t help wonder how many lay aloneOn a cold Christmas Eve in a land far from home.Just the very thought brought a tear to my eye,I dropped to my knees and started to cry.The solder awakened and I heard a rough voice,“Santa don’t cry, this life is my choice;I fight for freedom, I don’t ask for more,My life is my God, my country, my Corps.”With that he rolled over and drifted off into sleep,I couldn’t control it, I continued to weep.I watched him for hours, so silent and still,I noticed he shivered from the cold night’s chill. So I took off my jacket, the one made of red,And I covered this Soldier from his toes to his head. And I put on his T-shirt of gray and black,With an eagle and an Army patch embroidered on back. And although it barely fit me, I began to swell with pride,And for a shining moment, I was United States Army deep inside.I didn’t want to leave him on that cold dark night,This guardian of honor so willing to fight. Then the soldier rolled over, whispered with a voice so clean and pure,“Carry on Santa, it’s Christmas day, all is secure.”One look at my watch, and I knew he was right,Merry Christmas my friend, and to all a good night!

And one of the the truely great ones has left us....Bob Brown, former Regina track coach passed away yesterday.
For all intents and purposes, he was cross country track at Regina.
I remember when I first strated playing softball, he was the pitcher on the team at the time.
We'd have practice and I would end up throwing batting practice, seeing as how I was the "rookie" on the team at the time.....then one game he was late for, and I had to pitch the game, never pitched a game in my life...in a real game.....and I walked a couple guys....and I said,
"Bob you have to get in here."
He was like, "Nope...you're fine....quit aiming and just relax."
I did, and by golly he was right....we ended up winning the game, the league and the tourney title that year. ..with me pitching most of the way.
Bob, I'm still pitching......at 43 yrs old.....thanks to you.

I see the nut jobs from the Westboro Baptist Church in Topeka, KS lost an 11 million dollar lawsuit.
GOOD!
These are the idiots that protest soldiers funerals because they think God hates America, because of the tolerance of gays in this country.
Just for the record, do I think being gay is wrong, yes I do.
Do I think you should brainwash, and fill little kids full of hate and anger because someone is gay and you disagree with that, which is what these idiots do, ABSOLUTELY NOT.
I would be willing to bet brainwashing little kids and teaching them to hate is almost as bad as anything out there in gods eyes.
You know these people are so holier than thou, they don't even understand these heroes paid the ultimate price FOR THEIR RIGHT TO PROTEST.
So, basically they are protesting themselves......did that even make sense...I dunno...but it sounded cool.
; )
I have seen and heard the leader of this cult, which is what it is, try and have a civil conversation with anybody, it's not possible for him to do so.
It turns into a yelling and shouting match, and you get called an agent of evil, and a satan worshipper and on and on and on.
And although I cannot find it in my heart to feel sorry for these people, I do fear for the kids in this cult, they have been brainwashed and do not know any better.
I see a horrible end for this evil cult.
Their leader is an absolute certifiable psycho, who would stop at nothing to get his point across.
They will end up having a mass suicide, drinking kool-aid ala James Jones @ Guyana, or some such thing.
One last shot for you "Rev." Phelps, I'm right down the street here in Lees Summit,
come down and see me sometime, but since I'm sure you don't have the 'nads for that, send one of your jack booted karate black belts on down.
Oh yeah, I'm sure they can't read or write or follow directions, since they are following a person of your ilk, they obviously are not very smart.
You claim to be all about god and this and that....hmmm.....funny.... you sure are judgemental for a "man of god."
I'm sure your judgement day will be short lived.
Do the the three letters R-O-T have any special meaning for you Rev.?

When a neighbor needs a hand

Hey guys, hope you all had a great weekend....mine was decent...except for losses by my beloved black and gold and da Bears.
Anyway, this is a nice story......let me tell you....people think this happens everywhere...not really.
Of course it happens here and there, but as a rule, not. But it sure seems like I read about this happening every year in Iowa.
Not only are they farmers.....but they are.....
IOWANS!!!
KUDOS TO ALL WHO HELPED.
************************************
With the loss of his father on Aug. 28, Joe Fuhrmeister said he's been concerned about how everything would get done on his father's land this harvest season.
Bob Fuhrmeister, 63, was the leader. And even though the boys have been out there every year since they were old enough to drive the farm equipment, they were just the help.
Those things didn't matter Friday.
Forty friends and neighbors turned out to harvest about 200 acres of soybeans Friday. With 13 combines, they did in about three hours what could have taken a week of 10-hour days for the sons, they said.
In two weeks, another crew will come out to help the Fuhrmeisters harvest the corn.
"By the time it's done, it'll probably be a hundred different people," said John Hester of Nichols Ag and a family friend of the Fuhrmeisters. "They just know an awful lot of people, and an awful lot of people want to help."
Hester was one of three people to help organize all the volunteers so Jan Fuhrmeister and her sons barely had to lift a finger, even after offering to drive a tractor or combine.
"It's very touching," Jan Fuhrmeister said. "I'm grateful for all the help and everyone that's shown up. They're all glad to do it because they know Bob would do the same for them.
"I think that's just part of being a farmer. You're always helping someone else," she said.
Bob Fuhrmeister first was diagnosed with cancer in March 2005. Doctors removed the kidney with the tumor on it, and he went back every two months for tests, but at the beginning of this year, the cancer was back.
"That type of cancer is really aggressive," son Brian Fuhrmeister said.
Denny Abbott of Conesville said he farmed next to Bob Fuhrmeister for 25 years.
"Bob was a great guy," Abbott said. "Even if you were too busy to talk, he'd want to stop and talk."
Coming out to help the family "is just the thing that you do," he said. "It's just what farmers do."
And even though the farmers have crops of their own to deal with, "you don't worry about what you have to do in a situation like this," Abbott said. "You just go, and do what you can do."
"It just makes you feel good knowing you have close neighbors like this," Abbott said.
The family moved down to the farm east of Lone Tree in 1973 after farming in the West Branch area. They have 600 acres of crops, both corn and soybeans, plus timber, hay and a 71-head cow/calf operation.
The soybeans went from the field to semis to get them to Nichols. Jan Fuhrmeister said this was much different from past years, when she and her husband would drive the tractor and wagon to deliver the beans.
Joe Fuhrmeister said his father "always had a lot of pride getting his crops in and out." He remembered his father saying he hoped he would be there for one final harvest.
Joe Fuhrmeister said that because he and his two brothers each have steady jobs, it's unlikely they will plant or harvest all of this land again.
"We might try some of it, but we're probably going to rent most of it out," he said. "If I can get these guys to show up every year, sure I'd do it," he said with a smile.
Out in the fields Friday watching the volunteers, Joe Fuhrmeister said he was amazed at the response for the family.
"I've never seen anything like this. This is just impressive," he said.
Joe Fuhrmeister said his dad would probably have felt the same way, too.
"He'd be real impressed with this. I'm sure he's looking down on us right now going, 'Wow'," Joe Fuhrmeister said.
"Actually, he was such a modest man, he probably would have been: 'We don't need this much help. We can handle it,'" he said. "But I'm glad everyone's here."

"THE BANDING MACHINE DEBACLE"

Okay, how is everyone today..this fine Wed?
Let me tell you it is gorgeous in K C right now pushing about 75....just beautiful weather.
Many of you know about my escapade with the Bonneville from hell, that they found full of bullet holes some two years ago......and then there was the "attack bird" story from earlier this summer and all I had was a hat to defend myself while stranded on I-70. (stupid bird)
Well, "The Banding Machine" debacle is from that same file of stories.
Let me take you back.....way back to 9 a m this morning.
I had 7 crates that needed to have the lids on them banded shut, so they were good to go for shipping on a bumpy long ride to North Carolina.
I've been here almost four years now, and am somewhat of an expert with the bander. Or so I thought.
It just so happens that in that span of four years I have never, not once, had to actually change the spool on it due to it running out of actual strapping (banding) material. And of course it was empty.
Damn, I thought, I'm reasonably intelligent, there's really no moving parts, how hard can this be? ( I should've known better)
So anyway, I go get the refill spool with the new banding material on it, unscrew the giant bolt holding the empty one on, cut the little tie thingy's holding the strapping material on the spool until you get it on the......uh........ooops.
WHRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!
Apparently the little tie thingys aren't supposed to be cut until AFTER the new spool is secured on the actual banding machine.
5,000 ft of strapping is unraveling at somewhere around the speed of sound.
By some act of divine intervention I am able to get some packing tape on the remaining strapping on the spool, and get it stopped.
At this point in the story you're probably thinking....well....not a huge deal... D C can just wrap the unraveled strapping back up, the tape will hold it in place...no prob!
All fine ideas, I was thinking the same thing as well.......and who walks thru the warehouse door for a surprise visit, take a guess......of course.... the director of our division!
Who actually is a pretty good guy, and we traded barbs at The K C T-Bones minor league game one afternoon on a team builder about Missouri/Iowa football and such.
I'm standing there in ankle deep unraveled strapping material, and I know he is going to have some smart aleck remark, and sure enough right on cue he says,
"First time changing the refill spool there, Dan?"
What a set up I thought to myself. He just left the door wide open for me for the perfect Bill Engvall "here's your sign" comeback.....and I had it to boy.....right there on the tip of my tongue.
AND IF I COULD REMEBER WHAT IT WAS I'D TELL YOU.
Somewhere between my brain and my jaw muscle actually saying the snappy comeback I had thought of.....the signal carrying it from my brain decided to take a detour inside my big boulbus head.....and it never got there.
So I started to say it, "Nope I'm........er....that is yeah....I'm......uh....I don't know what the hell I'm doin'."
Brilliant D C, just friggin' brilliant.
I guess next time I'll read the directions first!
Have a good weekend!

Trip to U.S. capital is eye opening

From a letter writer in the Peoples Republic of Iowa City Press Citizen today, my response is below. I would respond to this individual in the paper, but you can't talk to people like this, you can't reason with them......period. Their hatred for Bush is so great, they are so blinded by hate, it continues to amaze me.
Beleive me ole' George hasn't exactly thrilled me either, but 9/11 was caused by our gov't? Come on.
That statement alone should tell you a person like this cannot be reasoned with.
On Sept. 14, I joined 50 other individuals and set out from Iowa City on a $100 round-trip bus ride to Washington, D.C., to participate in a march for peace, impeachment and other issues. When I first heard about the Sept. 15 march, I thought it was a patriotic thing to do and a really inexpensive way to see some of the nation's capital city. It became much more.
I was exposed to a myriad of critical thinking about this time of crisis in our country, including the illegal war my country is engaged in, the trampling of civil liberties in the form of the Patriot Act, the extreme possibility of 9/11 being an inside job by our own government, the incarceration and torture of "guilty until proven innocent" individuals around the globe and many other issues.
I walked proudly from the White House to the Capitol at the head of the march with other veterans of past and present wars this country has waged in the name of peace. As I walked, my eyes were opened to issues that profoundly affect us all. I began to think that if enough voices speak out, enough minds question, enough individuals rise to action, then the current course of our government's actions can be reined in and halted.
I realize now that it isn't enough for me to sit and believe that everything is OK. I can no longer "stay the course" for I have seen where the road is heading. I am now more actively involved in critical thinking, writing and visiting senators and congressmen, reading and supporting those groups who care about this country and our individual freedoms that are becoming extinct like so many other things.

See folks, this is the kind of mentality that is tearing the country apart. You'll notice he doesn't offer one single, solitary shred of evidence for anything.
Let me enlighten you:
1. "Illegal War"
WRONG.....after Saddam broke the very first U N resolution we had the LEGAL authority to go back into Iraq after 1991.
2. "Extreme possibilty our gov't was behind 9/11."
Uh....right.
Who was flying the planes....not Americans.... all middle eastern men who had been HAND PICKED by Bin Laden and were active members of AL-QAEDA. But the U S gov't was behind it. Sure.
3. "Trampiling of our civil liberties by the Patriot Act"
Just exactly what can't you do now, that you did before?
4. "Incarceration and torture of guilty until proven innocent individuals"
They are called "enemy combatants" ....and nobody has been tortured.
Oh, maybe they didn't get to their morning "prayer" carpet or whatever.....but torture...hardly.
As you can see, proof vs. no proof.
You decide.

HAWKEYES

HAWKEYES
Well, my Hawkeyes haven't given up a touchdown yet....although the competition thus far has not been very good. (Syracuse, Northern Illinois)
Iowa travels to in-state rival Iowa State tomorrow, and with the way the 'Cloners have played so far......our first test won't come until we play the Badgers in Madison next weekend.

Authorities Arrest Suspect After Texas Girl, 6, Found Hanged, Sexually Assaulted:
Guess what......you're dead, you son-of-a-bitch. IF you make it to trial....you'll be dead long before they can stick the needle in you.

Man Trying to Sneak Into Concert Venue Impaled on Fence:
Uh.....as the saying goes, "Bad things don't happen to you because you're unlucky, bad things happen to you because you're a dumbass!"

Bush Lied, They Died.....T-shits Banned In Three States:
GOOD!
This is absolutely reprehensible.
First of all free speech is NOT universal....get it thru your head dumbass. You can't just go around saying whatever you want. For the most part you can. But even so, this is just abhorent.
SECONDLY BUSH DID NOT LIE! God, I wish people would stop saying that....do your research Mr. Bush hater.....EVERY ally, EVERY intellegence agency of every other country said he had WMD's.
Idiot.
See folks, these type of people.....their hatred for Bush and/or Republicans totally blinds them to the facts.....it doesn't matter if what they say is right or not, they don't care.
All they care about is making Bush look bad...that's it. Period.
I've really never seen anything like it.
They hate the right and the Republicans, namely because we're in the white house and they're not.
They think they are the only ones smart enough to run the show...when in fact history has proven the left to be wrong on almost every single conflict/war to this point.
I suspect this one will be no different.
Have a good weekend everybody!
GO HAWKS!!
