Dwight: Fans deserve well-behaved players

Veteran says commissioner right to clean up NFL's image:
Folks,
the former Iowa City High star has hit this right on the head. These guys who think they are above everybody and everything have to answer to somebody.
Despite what Charles Barkley would have you believe, they are role models....that is part of the job.
Okay....I'll give you maybe they don't have to be Mr. straight laced like Dwight says here.
Obviously the NFL is going to have strict enforcement on your off the field activities.
You know, there's some jobs you can't have if you have a DWI on your record....or a drug conviction...or even any type of felony.
The NFL is doing the same thing here as far as I see it. They have an image to protect, and they are going to protect it.
That's their call if they decide to make that a "job requirement"
If you want to work here, this is what we expect wether your at work or not.
These are the rules, you can either live or die by them, your choice.
I'd venture to say 90% of the NFL players wouldn't be making the money they're making had they not been born with size, speed and balance. Granted lots of them work very hard to maintain that......like the aforementioned Mr. Dwight.
But lets face it, although he is my favorite all time Hawkeye... had the Gods not reached down and turned his legs into lightning bolts when he was born, at 5'8, 185 lbs....he's not playing in the NFL.
Anyway, I'm glad to see Dwight come out and say this stuff......
What a great representative he still is for the University of Iowa, and Iowa City as a whole.
